The Physiological Society of Nigeria was founded on 28th April 1978 at the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin at a meeting convened by one of Nigeria’s foremost physiologists, Prof. Diete-Koki. At that meeting, Prof. Felix Oladejo Dosekun of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, was unanimously elected as the first president of the society. With a membership of just eighteen at inception in 1978, the society has grown to be one of Africa’s most active physiological societies.
The aim of the society is to promote and advance physiological knowledge and its utilization. PSN is affiliated with the African Association of Physiological Sciences (AAPS) and the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS).
